Motor-drive unit TAPMOTION® ED Supplement 4912078/01 EN Motor-drive unit with monitoring system for the star-delta change-over operation This technical document contains a description of the special design of the TAPMOTION® ED motor-drive unit with a monitoring system for the star-delta change-over operation. More information on the motor-drive unit can be found in the associated operating instructions. Pay particular attention to the Safety chapter and familiarize yourself with the product. This technical file is intended solely for specially trained and authorized personnel. Function description The special-design motor-drive unit with a monitoring system for the star-delta change-over operation is used to adjust the operating position of on-load tap-changers with a change-over selector for star-delta change-over operation in regulating transformers. The motor-drive unit is equipped with monitoring systems and locking mechanisms to ensure safe operation in accordance with DIN VDE 31000. Locking the motor-drive unit and tripping the circuit breaker The motor-drive unit is locked as follows for safe operation of the application: ▪ You can switch the on-load tap-changer from the Y connection to the delta connection (and vice versa) only if the circuit breaker is switched off. If the circuit breaker is switched on, the corresponding Raise/ Lower tap-change operations are locked. ▪ If the motor-drive unit moves to an impermissible tap position (star-delta change-over operation) while the circuit breaker is switched on, the motor-drive unit will trip the circuit breaker on the transformer. ▪ The on-load tap-changer unit is equipped with a synchronism control unit. ▪ You can only engage the transformer circuit breaker if the motor-drive unit is in a permitted position (shaded area of the tap-change indicator) and the synchronism control unit does not report an error. Function test To commission the transformer and at regular intervals, make sure the locking mechanism is functioning properly. Carry out the following test in both switching directions (star -> delta and delta -> star). To do so, proceed as follows: ü WARNING! Transformer must be de-energized otherwise there is a risk of death or severe injury due to electrical voltage. ü Transformer circuit breaker is engaged. 1. Switch the motor-drive unit to the tap position before the star-delta change-over operation and continue switching toward the tap position after the star-delta change-over operation. ð The motor-drive unit must not start up. 2. Insert the hand crank into the motor-drive unit and carry out the on-load tap-change operation complete- ly. ð After no more than 4 tap-change indicator sections, the motor protective switch is tripped. ð After no more than 8 tap-change indicator sections, the transformer circuit breaker is tripped. 3. Remove the hand crank. ð The function test is carried out. Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH 2016 4912078/01 EN ▪
