Based upon 7 bases of units: B. Other system of measurement Length = meter (m) Mass = kilogram (kg) Avoirdupois Time = seconds (s) - Widely used in the US in measuring body weight and Electric current = ampere (A) in selling goods by ounce or pound. Temperature = kelvin (K) Apothecaries’ Amount of substance = mole (mol) - The predominant pharmacists’ system of volumetric Luminous intensity = candela (cd) and weight measure. SYSTEMS OF MEASURE a. Metric System Internationally recognized decimal system of weights and measures. Used in the practice of Pharmacy. Formulated in France in the late eighteenth century. To change an SI denomination to the next smaller denomination, the decimal point is moved one place to the right. To change an SI denomination to the next larger denomination, the decimal point is moved one place to the left.
