The removal of waste materials produced in the cells of the living organisms is called excretion. The organ system responsible for the removal of waste products from the body is called excretory system. Micturition is the expulsion of the urine from the bladder along the urethra. Structure of Kidney Malpighian capsule Combined structure of Bowman's capsule and the glomerulus Functions of Kidneys Role of Kidney in Urine Formation Role of Kidney in Urine Formation Filtration and reabsorption are two important processes involved in urine formation. Filtration: The first step in urine formation is the filtration of blood. It takes place in the glomerulus. Blood entering the glomerulus gets filtered in the Bowman's capsule and is called the filtrate. Reabsorption: The filtrate entering the renal tubule contains waste as well as the useful substances. The excess water, salts like sodium and chloride and other useful materials get reabsorbed into the blood. Secretion: The remaining liquid which contains urea, uric acid and some other waste material is called urine. This urine is collected in the urinary bladder till it is excreted out. Excretion: The urine passes through the ureters into the urinary bladder, and from the urinary bladder it is passed out through the urethra. Common Disorders of the Urinary System Other than E.coli there is Chlamydia and Mycoplasma
