POLICY Department policy requires that all Department members obtain and maintain the proper class drivers’ license to operate automotive fire apparatus during their employment with the Fire Department. PROCEDURE A. It is the responsibility of all Department employees to obtain the proper class drivers license to operate automotive fire apparatus within six months of their employment. (Illinois Class B non CDL for all shift personnel. Illinois Class C or D for all staff personnel). B. It is the responsibility of all Department employees to maintain the proper class drivers’ license to operate fire apparatus during their employment with the Fire Department. C. All personnel will assume any costs relating to obtaining or maintaining the proper class drivers’ license. D. It is the responsibility of all personnel to forward a copy of their renewed or upgraded license after it is reissued. A copy will be sent to the Battalion Chief – Training/Safety, the first duty day after a new license is issued. E.
