HOFFMAN ESTATES FIRE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES SOG Category & Identification Number: EFFECTIVE DATE: ADMINISTRATIVE – 015 January 1, 2022 NIMS COMPLIANT SOG Title: Drivers License Revision: 5 APPROVED BY: NUMBER OF PAGES: Re-evaluation Date: Alan Wax January 1, 2024 Fire Chief 2 PURPOSE To establish the requirements and responsibilities of obtaining and maintaining the proper class drivers’ license to operate automotive fire apparatus. POLICY Department policy requires that all Department members obtain and maintain the proper class drivers’ license to operate automotive fire apparatus during their employment with the Fire Department. PROCEDURE A. It is the responsibility of all Department employees to obtain the proper class drivers license to operate automotive fire apparatus within six months of their employment. (Illinois Class B non CDL for all shift personnel. Illinois Class C or D for all staff personnel). B. It is the responsibility of all Department employees to maintain the proper class drivers’ license to operate fire apparatus during their employment with the Fire Department. C. All personnel will assume any costs relating to obtaining or maintaining the proper class drivers’ license. D. It is the responsibility of all personnel to forward a copy of their renewed or upgraded license after it is reissued. A copy will be sent to the Battalion Chief – Training/Safety, the first duty day after a new license is issued. E. It is the responsibility of all personnel to immediately report in writing to the Fire Chief any restrictions or reduction in driver’s license classification or privileges. 1 EXCEPTIONS REFERENCES DEFINITIONS End of Document 2
