AFRICA Home of the World’s largest hot desert – Sahara Desert. And longest river – Nile River. Most of African countries has been ruled by Europeans like the British, French, and Portuguese. NORTH AFRICA The countries in this region are Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Morocco, and Western Sahara. Arabic and Berber languages are two of the principal languages in the region EAST AFRICA Composed of the countries Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Somaliland, Tanzania, and Uganda. WEST AFRICA A subregion consisting of the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote D’ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Saint Helena. SOUTHERN AFRICA It is the region of Africa that includes the countries of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe CENTRAL AFRICA Defined by the UN subregion consist of the following countries: Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Congo Republic, Democratic, republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Sao Tome and Principe Tourist Attractions Djemila or Cuicul (Algeria) – shows remnants of the ancient Roman colonial time. Pyramids of Egypt and Sphinx – are two of the most iconic monuments from ancient Egypt, primarily located in the Giza Plateau Medina Fez (Morocco) – an old city with the best conserved historic towns reflecting Arab-Muslim world. Tourist Attractions Lake Turkana(Kenya) – world’s largest desert lake and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nosy Be (Madagascar) – a premier beach destination, an idyllic island known for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and coral reefs. Tourist Attractions Seven Colored Earths (Mauritius) – A natural phenomenon where the sand dunes exhibit seven distinct colors, ranging from red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow. Vallée de Mai (Seychelles) - A UNESCO World Heritage Site, an ancient palm forest is home to the Coco de Mer palm, which produces the largest seed in the plant kingdom. Tourist Attraction Grand-Bassam (Côte d'Ivoire)- A historic town and UNESCO World Heritage Site that was once the French colonial capital. Kunta Kinteh Island (Gambia) -A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kunta Kinteh Island is significant for its role in the transatlantic slave trade. Lake Volta (Ghana) - One of the largest man-made lakes in the world. Tourist Attractions Victoria Falls (Zambia/Zimbabwe) One of the world’s largest and most spectacular waterfalls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya ("The Smoke That Thunders"). Table Mountain (South Africa) - The iconic flat-topped mountain overlooking Cape Town, one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Namib Desert (Namibia) - One of the oldest and driest deserts in the world, with stunning landscapes and towering sand dunes. Tourist Attractions Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) - the highest mountain in Africa and one of the most iconic peaks in the world, it is known as the "Roof of Africa," Kahuzi-Biega National Park (Democratic Republic of Congo) - A UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its population of eastern lowland gorillas. 1. Algeria Capital – Algiers Languages – Arabic and Berber The Largest Nation in the continent of Africa. Home to some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the world. 2. Egypt Capital – Cairo It has been one of the sites included in the Holy Land pilgrimage. Egyptians do place a great value on respect for family and place of worship or sacred places. 3. Morocco Capital – Rabat Language - French Tourism is a vital source of the country’s economic growth, and it also helps in providing employment opportunities. 4. Kenya Capital – Nairobi It offers natural and historical attractions. 5. Madagascar Capital – Antananarivo Formerly known as Malagasy Republic Popular for its endemic flora and fauna like the Baobab (bottle tree). 6. Mauritius Capital – Port Louis A tropical country, colonized by French and British Has an endemic bird called “Dodo” 7. Seychelles Capital – Victoria An archipelagic nation This island nation offers a wide range of tourist attractions such as nature reserves, marine national parks, monuments, and local arts and crafts. 8. Cote D' Ivoire or ivory coast Capital – Yamoussoukro (Legislative) | Abidjan (Economic) Language – French Ivory Coast became part of French West Africa until 1960 when the country regained independence from France 9. Gambia Capital – Banjul Language – English Coined as the “smiling coast of Africa”, due to the Gambian warm and friendly character 10. Ghana Capital – Accra The country once identified as the “gold coast”. It boasts of its forts and castles that are in the world heritage list 11. South Africa Capitals: Pretoria – Administrative capital Cape Town – Legislative capital Bloemfontein – Judicial capital 12.Botswana Capital – Gaborone Renowned for its pristine, high-end ecotourism, offering luxurious safari lodges and low-impact tourism focused on conservation. 13. Republic of Congo Capital – Brazzaville Language – French It is becoming a hotspot for ecotourism, with pristine rainforests and unique wildlife experiences. 14.
