GPP-5 I.A.-3 Operation and Maintenance Manual 01 FUNCTION 01.1 Scope of the Unit The Wastewater Treatment System receives waste water from the following general sources: − The Continuously Oil Contaminated (COC) Drains − Chemical Contaminated Wastewater − Condensate/Water Separator − Chloride Scrubbing Operations − Process Vessel Water Boots − Process Vessel Knockout Drums − Wet Drain Drums − Boiler Blowdown (and unrecoverable steam trap drains) − Filter Backwash − Reverse Osmosis Unit Reject Water − Deionization Unit Regeneration Waste Water − Utility Systems Drains This waste water is treated to remove contaminants, oil and suspended solids and to adjust the pH and the BOD to the levels shown below: Temperature pH BOD5 at 20° COD Suspended Solids Mercury Cadmium Chromium, hexavalent Arsenic Cyanide Lead Chromium, trivalent Copper Manganese Nickel Tin Zinc Boron Iron Phenol Free Chlorine Sulphide Oil & grease Max 40°C 5.5 - 9.0 50 mg/l 100 mg/l 100 mg/l 0.05 mg/l 0.02 mg/l 0.05 mg/l 0.10 mg/l 0.10 mg/l 0.5 mg/l 1.0 mg/l 1.0 mg/l 1.0 mg/l 1.0 mg/l 1.0 mg/l 1.0 mg/l 4.0 mg/l 5.0 mg/l 1.0 mg/l 2.0 mg/l 0.5 mg/l 10.0 mg/l Treated waste water is then discharged to the outfall via an automatic composite sampler, pH monitoring and a flow totalising system. Should the treated water quality not meet specification, the outflow from the wastewater treatment system can be diverted to the Holding Pond T5/6-1018, where it can be returned into the system for re-treatment. Unit 10 - Waste Water Treatment 5B10_3X1.doc Function / Page 1 of 2 Rev.01 GPP-5 I.A.-3 Operation and Maintenance Manual Equipment is arranged such that there is one wastewater treatment system each for GPP5 and for GPP6 plus some shared (5/6) facilities. Equipment drainage and wastewater from DPCU#3 are forwarded to either the GPP5 or the GPP6 wastewater treatment facility.
