The process of introducing the new employee to the organisation/business, their team, their job and what their employer expects of them. It is important to discuss the role of the new employee with existing staff Existing staff Who is the new person? What is their role? What can the existing staff do to help the induction process? What can the existing staff do to help the induction process & why? Existing staff When should staff induction happen?  Best over a period of time, as often there is a lot of information. Bombarding a new employee with too much to learn can be overwhelming, confusing and time consuming. Covers business/organisation, job, employee rights, responsibilities and benefits Helps the employee feel welcome, settle in quickly and feel like part of the team Organised, structured and helpful Happens over time and is followed up by further support A poorly executed induction plan can increase voluntary turnover of employees, confuse and waste time/money What MUST a Staff Induction include? ✓ A full Health and Safety Briefing.  Provision of Safety Tools & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). E.g.
