**PURPOSE** To explain the use of official position and identification, daily duties and responsibilities to include emergency response and investigation and plan review, as well as use and maintenance of vehicles and office space. **POLICY** It is the policy of the Bernalillo County Fire and Rescue to ensure that the Fire Prevention Bureau meets its responsibilities to the citizens of Bernalillo County by providing professional and comprehensive fire investigations and fire code enforcement. **PROCEDURE** I. **DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** A. DFMs shall obey and adhere to the Department's Policies and Procedures, and Standard Operating Guidelines. B. DFMs shall be required to develop and maintain proficiency in conducting the following: 1. Fire code inspections 2. Fire Investigations C. DFMs shall be required to prepare, review, and forward required reports to the Fire Marshal as outlined in this policy. D. Fire Marshal Office schedule and reporting: 1. The Fire Marshal office staff will work one of the following schedules: a. Monday through Friday eight hours per day. b. Ten-hour shifts 1. Monday through Thursday 2\) Tuesday through Friday c. 48/96 shift schedule identical to field staff rotation 2. On coming DFMs shall report at 07:00 for 40hr work weeks or 09:00 for 48/96 schedule in uniform ready to begin their workday. a. Pre-arranged fire safety inspections for 40hr work week staff at or before 7am, shall be relayed to division officers prior to the inspection. 3. E. Perform Daily Inspections 1. 2. 3. a. F. Fire Investigations and scene response 1. DFMs will respond to incidents and conduct investigations per SOG 5.22, Fire Cause and Determination and 2. DFMs will be dispatched and will respond to the scene as outlined in SOG 5.22 and SOG 4.2. G. Plan Review 3. 4. 5. 6. H. Identification 1. II. **Training** A. DFMs shall complete continued training as per 800-001 Training Standards & Requirements. B. DFMs are encouraged to attend other trainings to enhance their inspection and investigation abilities. Examples of other trainings include but are not limited to: - - - - III. **Vehicles and Office Space** A. DFMs shall maintain assigned fire department vehicles in a clean and orderly fashion. 1. 2. B. DFMs shall maintain their assigned office and workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. 3. C.
