APPLICATION Receptacle Circuit Testers are used by Fire Companies to verify the correct wiring of any standard “U” ground (three-pronged) electrical receptacle prior to plugging-in powered Fresno Fire Department (FFD or Department) equipment. OPERATIONAL POLICY This section intentionally left blank. OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE This section intentionally left blank. PROCESS The Department uses a variety of Receptacle Circuit Testers, which all function in the same manner: 1. Plug Tester into desired three-pronged receptacle (two-prong outlets lack a proper ground and may not be used). 2. Observe the red, white, and yellow lenses on the Tester. 3. Reference the guide (Figure 1 and Figure 2) on the Tester against the resulting pattern of lights to determine the receptacle’s usability. Do not use a faulted receptacle.
