HOFFMAN ESTATES FIRE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES SOG Category & Identification Number: EFFECTIVE DATE: Operational Guideline – 25 January 1, 2022 NIMS COMPLIANT SOG Title: Personal Vehicles in the Fire Station Revision: 1 APPROVED BY: NUMBER OF PAGES: Re-evaluation Date: Alan Wax January 1, 2024 Fire Chief 1 PURPOSE To establish a guideline for personal vehicles in the fire station. POLICY It shall be the policy of the Hoffman Estates Fire Department to not allow personal vehicles in the fire stations except as provided in this guideline. PROCEDURE Minor maintenance and washing of personal vehicles in the fire station after 1700 hours on weekdays and after the hours of station and routine work duties on weekends and holidays, provided such duties have been completed, may be permitted with the Company Officer approval. Any minor maintenance or washing of vehicles will be done with the member’s own supplies and tools (with the exception of air hose inflators). Any member bringing their vehicle into the station will assume all risks and liabilities of damages or injuries that occur. When temperatures are projected to be below 10°F or 5 inches of snow, the Company Officer may allow members to bring their vehicles into the station after 1700 hours as long as those vehicles do not impede emergency responses. DEFINITIONS Minor Maintenance: Changing windshield wipers, filling tires or activities of a similar nature are all considered minor maintenance. All other work is not allowed.
