Community Organizing: Ways and Goals 資料來源:李永展、吳碧霜 2022.03 (English) To understand concept of community organizing To understand ways to manage a community organization To understand relationship between community organization and empowerment 姚瀛志 (2011) incorporated views from community and organization, suggested three dimensions for community organizing : 1.Locality( 地域 ) 2.Community feature( 特性 ) 3.Community function( 功能 ) 1.Locality : members of organization should be local residents 2.Feature : organizing should focus on process of consciousness raising, or training of empowering ability 3.Function : should aim at improving quality of life, or building interpersonal networks 1.To find partners of community empowerment 2. To hold many kinds of meeting (group meeting, workshops) 3. Triggering stage B. Initiating stage for organizing C. Engagement stage for residents D. Evaluation stage 1-1-3/3 (A) triggering stage ─ triggering stage refers to interaction among residents ─ utilize activity/program design so residents are willing to participate community affairs -Methods : ice-breaking, knowing each other, spatial observation Let people get to know each other Big feast from restaurant ? (B) Initiating stage for organizing ─ residents organize themselves to work on public affairs in community ─the education and training among residents is the most important task -training to cultivate people’s profession, need assessment and resource investigation (C) Engagement stage ─refers to residents work together and do carry out actions ─”participatory workshop” is a good way to introduce residents to take actions - action plans should be discussed (D) Evaluation stage ─refers to evaluating or reviewing the outcome after actions are taken a) they may explore more problems b) to develop next move or action c) to decide if the action is in accord with community plan d) to evaluate if the goal is achieved Four stages: __________ stage - - - interaction among residents __________ stage - - - training program __________ stage - - - action plan; actions __________ stage - - - reviewing the outcome Trigger event– 921 earthquake --residents came home to join the reconstruction work; they learn how to build trail, learn to do bamboo craftwork Reconstruction team building the trail Problems for organizing: A.
