Nunc non urna non tortor fringilla molestie. farmers globally REGIONS IN ASIA Central Asia Southwest Asia South Asia East Asia Southeast Asia REGIONS IN ASIA East Asia six (6) countries, consisting of Japan, North, and South Korea, China, Mongolia, and Taiwan (which China considered only as its province). East Asia occupies a large part of Asia with China accounting for over 20% of continents total land area. East Asia An old term for the region is the Far East, a name that arose among Europeans, who considered this region in the continent to their east to be “far” from Europe in terms of traveling time. The region is known for its traditional arts, such as calligraphy, tea ceremonies, and martial arts. Major languages include Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, and Mongolian. East Asia China - has the largest population Japan - one of the world’s richest countries Taiwan and South Korea - industrialized countries Philosophies of Confucianism, Taoism, and Shinto were born. Also adapted Buddhism from India. It has been the center of many major events, including the rise and fall of dynasties, World War II, and the Korean War. South Asia 8 countries The region consists of Muslim countries: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh; Himalayan countries - Nepal, Bhutan; and Sri Lanka and Maldives. referred to as “land of mysticism”, because of the beliefs reflected in philosophies and religions that developed here - Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism. South Asia a home to one of the world’s earliest known civilizations, the Indus civilization. India- the largest country in the region in terms of territorial size and population. Hinduism is the primary religion here. South Asia Triangular in shape, the South Asian peninsula borders the Indian Ocean in the South and the Himalayas in the North. The region is known as the melting pot of culture. Afghanistan is part also in South Asia. Southwest Asia 18 countries the region where the boundaries of three important continents - Africa, Asia, and Europe - meet. Arab nations - Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Kuwait. Gulf States - Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain. Iran, Israel, Cyprus, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan can be found here too. Southwest Asia also known as the Middle East, encompasses a region at the intersection of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Arab nations - Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Kuwait. Gulf States - Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain. Iran, Israel, Cyprus, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan can be found here too. Southwest Asia It is the main source of oil in the world. The region is known for its rich history, being the birthplace of major world religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Arabs constitute the largest ethnic group in the region. Majority of the inhabitants are Muslim while Jews are in Israel. Southeast Asia is often subdivided into two regions: Continental (Mainland) Southeast Asia and Oceanic (Insular) Southeast Asia. Mainland Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Insular Southeast Asia: Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia. Southeast Asia result of different geographical characteristics - two different traditions are developing in the region. (1) agricultural traditions (such as the kingdom of Angkor in Cambodia); and (2) maritime traditions (such as in the kingdom of Srivijaya in Sumatra). Southeast Asia The region includes both mainland and island nations. It is characterized by tropical rainforests, vast archipelagos (such as Indonesia and the Philippines), and rich biodiversity. The region experienced European colonization and struggled for independence in the 20th century. It was also impacted by major conflicts, like the Vietnam War. Central Asia 5 countries It consists of countries of former Soviet Central Asia. It consists of 5 countries, often referred to as the "Stan" countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Central Asia is a landlocked region characterized by vast steppes, deserts, and mountain ranges. Central Asia In historical context, nomadic people live here, and they play a large part in Silk Road. It became a center of movement for people, products, and ideas between Europe and other regions in Asia. Afghanistan is part also in Central Asia. Silk Road The Silk Road, commonly known as the first global trade route in history, had a scope and importance far greater than the simple exchange of goods. The Silk Road got its name because silk, a valuable fabric produced in China, was one of the most famous goods traded along these routes. It played a crucial role in the cultural, commercial, and technological exchange between different civilizations for over a thousand years.
