OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 10 SUBJECT: REST PERIODS REVISED. - July 20, 2010 REVISED; AND SCHEDULING REST PERIODS - This Order clarifies that sworn personnel do not receive any rest breaks while on duty and deletes the procedure for the use of the Rest Period Register, General Form 74, by civilian employees PURPOSE: . PROCEDURE : I. DEPARTMENT MANUAL SECTION 3/724, REST PERIODS - REVISED. This section is amended to include the following note: Sworn employees do not receive any rest breaks during their work shifts. Sworn employees are exempt from California regulations regarding work breaks . Rest periods are restricted to civilian personnel only. Note: The remainder of this section remains unchanged. II. DEPARTMENT MANUAL SECTION 3/724.60, SCHEDULING REST PERIODS REVISED. Department Manual Section 3/724.60 has been revised to read as follows: - Rest periods shall be scheduled near the middle of each half of the tour of duty. No rest period shall be taken during the first or last hour of an employee's working period. Because rest period policies may differ among employee classifications, refer to the individual employee's Memorandum of Understanding for additional information. AMENDMENTS: This Order amends Sections Department Manual . 3/724 and 3/724.60 of the All commanding officers shall have monitoring responsibility for this directive. MONITORING RESPONSIBILITY: The Commanding Officer, Internal Audits and Inspections Division, shall review this directive and determine whether an audit or inspection shall be conducted in accordance with Department Manual Section 0/080.30.
