It involves understanding the users' needs, preferences, and behaviors to develop interfaces and interactions that are intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable. â–ª UX design is about creating products that not only look good but also function well and provide value to users. The creation and synchronization of the elements that affect users’ experience with a particular company, with the intent of influencing their perceptions and behaviour. UX Design Concept â–ª Digital design is about more than just attractive layouts. To craft a truly engaging and streamlined digital platform experience, user centred thinking and approaches are essential. â–ª As such, UX design is the first step in the creation of any website, app or digital platform. â–ª User experience designers are responsible for the development, functionality and usability of a digital product. â–ª They utilise the design process to: ✓ gather and analyse data, ✓ conceptualize (wireframe), ✓ build, ✓ test, ✓ improve, ✓ Launch, and, ✓ monitor digital products for online consumers. Innovation through Design â–ª Thinking : This stage involves brainstorming, research, and ideation. â–ª Designers explore possibilities, challenge assumptions, and generate creative ideas to address a problem or opportunity. â–ª It's about pushing boundaries, thinking outside the box, and envisioning new solutions. Innovation through Design â–ª Making (or building) phase : In this stage, designers turn their ideas into tangible prototypes or products. â–ª This could involve sketching, wireframing, or creating digital mockups to visualize concepts. â–ª Making allows designers to bring their ideas to life in a tangible form that can be tested and evaluated. Innovation through Design â–ª Breaking phase : refers to the process of testing and evaluating the prototypes or products. â–ª This stage involves gathering feedback, conducting usability testing, and identifying areas for improvement. â–ª By intentionally seeking out flaws and weaknesses, designers can uncover insights that inform iterative refinement and enhancement. Innovation through Design â–ª Repeat phase : The repetition of the process is key to innovation and improvement. â–ª Designers use the insights gained from testing and evaluation to refine their ideas and create new iterations of the prototype or product. â–ª Each iteration brings them closer to an optimal solution, incorporating lessons learned from previous cycles. Digital Aspects of User Experience design History of UX design Fields of UX design â–ª UX design has become a huge umbrella term encompassing many fields, including: Visual Design - implementing text, colors, and images in a way that enhances a design or interaction Usability - how easily a user interacts with a website or product. Fields of UX design â–ª UX design has become a huge umbrella term encompassing many fields, including: Sociology - reaction of a consumer after using any product. Aesthetics - users' tendency to perceive attractive products as more usable. People tend to believe that things that look better will work better — even if they aren't actually more effective or efficient. Fields of UX design â–ª UX design has become a huge umbrella term encompassing many fields, including: Psychology - understanding how people interact with a product and how their decisions can be influenced or manipulated Usability vs User Experience in UX design The degree to which products are A person’s subjective feeling and attitudes about effective, easy to use, easy to learn, using a particular product. It includes the efficient, fewer errors and satisfying to functional scope, product brand, psychological users expectation, and actual emotional feeling. UX designer UX Designers share traits that include curiosity, passion, and empathy. To create truly memorable and satisfying experiences, a UX designer needs to understand how to create a logical and viable structure for the experience, and needs to understand the elements that are important to creating an emotional connection with the product’s users. There is also a desire to achieve balance. 18 Thank You! The End /belgiumcampusSA #Belgium Campus [email protected] +27 10 593 53 68 /belgiumcampus 18 www.belgiumcampus.ac.za
