To increase quality of life ►Raises standard of living by satisfying needs of population ►Production of houses, hospitals, transportation, TVs, machinery, cameras, newspapers…..etc. (secondary industries) ►Followed by increased health care, schooling and other service sectors (tertiary industries) ►Generates wealth within a country, but not necessarily to all 2. Widening of personal choice ►Provides choice of jobs, choice of products to buy and choices concerning transportation, communication, and all other technological advancements ►Freedom of choice is a welcomed quality for most people ► Too much choice can create “choice 3. The Creation of jobs ►Creates factories, workshops, transportation, energy, finance and marketing, etc…job opportunities ►Jobs generate income, reduce poverty, provide material wealth ►Companies expand to other countries where labour is cheap and abundant, and environmental laws less strict (i.e. transnational corporations)
