Members entering the elevators should be sure that the floor they're selecting as their elevator exit point isn't connected to the fire floor by an access stair. If a fire begins near the base of the access stair, the first smoke detector to operate could be two floors above the actual fire location. The fire unit that takes an elevator to two floors below the smoke detector might find themselves in for a rude awakening when the elevator door opens on the fire floor!
