# Rheumatoid Arthritis - Systemic joint disorder (Autoimmune Disease) - Autoimmune disorder leading to changes in connective tissue - Physical Exam, Blood Tests, & Imaging # Gout - Red, hot, swollen joint (most common in big toe) - Excessive accumulation of uric acid in a joint - Aspiration of joint to obtain & identify crystals (microscopic level) - Anti-inflammatory medications + dietary adjustments # Muscular System - **Skeletal:** body movement (voluntary or strained muscle) - **Smooth:** maintain blood pressure and flow - **Cardiac:** found in heart; responsible for pumping blood through body - **Tendons:** attach muscle to bone # Muscular Dystrophy - Chronic + Progressive muscle weakness leading to paralysis - Inherited genetic mutation involved with protecting muscle fibers - Patient history & Physical Exam - Physical Therapy and medications # Myopathy - Muscle weakness, cramps, stiffness, spasms - Can come from many disease processes - Based on symptoms - Physical Therapy, Medication Therapy, surgery
