Home Style Food Trend By group: 9D What is the food trend? Home styled foods, are foods that have the qualities of simplicity and familiarity. Home styled foods are meals that are to be enjoyed traditionally and give a setting of being served in the comfort of your home. When did the trend start? Home style cooking trends popularised in the early 2020 when the world pandemic hit. Home style cooking was a common routine years ago and became most prominent during the years of 2020 and 2021. These obstacles have influenced a majority of people’s everyday diet in response to the lockdown that prevented accessibility to restaurants and large gatherings for meals. Examples of Home style foods Health Aspects Control over ingredients - So you know what’s going into your food, so that you can avoid additives, excessive salt, and unhealthy fats, or anymore other ingredients Portion control - Normally home-style meals have a good portion of food in the plate to maintain good diet. Smaller Plate might make the food looks bigger so that you know that the food you put is enough. But if you used a bigger plate the food will look smaller and you might think that you put less food but actually the plate is the problem. Good control over your cooking, leads to a healthy living INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA People takes pictures, videos. In this generation people takes pictures before they eat. This influences the social media, and encourages people to cook in their homes. Some people gets influenced by the others changing their liking in food Most influencers cooks in their home Environmental and Ethical Factors The impact of this food trend is that, a lot of people when they are cooking they can't properly manage or reuse the dish that they have cooked. Ethical: Cultural Respect: Home-style foods often reflect cultural heritage.It's also important to honor and respect traditional recipes and practices without appropriation Market and Consumer Behaviour We are the one who buys the products since it’s home style meals, we buy ingredients needed for the food that we are gonna cook, sometimes we just cook anything that is available in our kitchen. Or sometimes we cook at our homes for people that are willing to buy our dish and sell it online. Future of the trend As homestyle cooking were a trend in the pandemic, as the virus decreased, eating out have been an option again. However, Homestyle cooking has impacted us in cooking our own meals. The future of this trend won’t be as popular as before but will be used essentially. This means they are produced using eco-friendly methods, such as using pesticides or fertilisers. They also require less water and energy to produce than other foods. Ethical Climate conscious foods minimise one’s contribution to climate change, from a sustainability point of view, these decisions can prove to be beneficial socially, politically, and morally.
