Outline the method of prevention and control of IDA and IDD. University of Baghdad/ College of Medicine 2022-2023 Iron deficiency anemia (IDA): The most commonly- recognized causes of anaemia are iron deficiency anemia. Anaemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the haemoglobin concentration within them is lower than normal. The population groups most vulnerable to anaemia include: 1. Children under 5 years of age, particularly infants and children under 2 years of age, 2. Menstruating adolescent girls and women, and 3. Pregnant and postpartum women. University of Baghdad/ College of Medicine 2022-2023 Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a worldwide problem with highest prevalence in developing countries. IDA mainly affects child behavior and development, work performance and immunity. Anemia is diagnosed based on blood haemoglobin concentrations falling below specified thresholds established based on age, sex, and physiological status.
