How do you usually select and organize information? SELECTING AND ORGANIZING INFORMATION Strategies in Selecting Brainstorming and Outlining Organizing Using Graphic Information Organizer 1. Brainstorming Brainstorming is a technique to generate ideas within a group or individual setting. 1. Brainstorming It provides a quick means for tapping the ideas and concepts of an individual or of a group then helps establish patterns and develop relationship among these concepts. TOOLS IN BRAINSTORMING A. IDEA LIST Start by listing down broad topics then go on by identifying related, narrower topics. B. CONCEPT MAP Begin by writing the main concept at the middle and then adding more branches for its subtopics. Explore more topics by adding more branches. B. CONCEPT MAP Ways to Brainstorm Effectively 1. Brain Writing The team leader shares the topic down with the team, and the team members individually write their own ideas. 2. Figuring Storming -- Putting yourself in new shoes can give the team a different perspective and presents the possibility of fresh ideas 3. Brain-Netting -- Virtual teams are becoming more and more common across all business types. 4. Rapid Ideation -- The team leader provides context beforehand with information and then a time limit is set for each member to write down as many ideas as possible, using any medium available 5. Round Robin -- This method begins by having the team gather in a circle. -- it’s important to NOT evaluate any ideas until everyone has the opportunity to share. 6. Starbusting -- focuses on forming questions rather than answers. 7. Stepladder Technique -- encourages every member in the team to contribute individually before being influenced by everyone else. 7. Stepladder Technique -- The session begins with the facilitator sharing the topic or questions with the whole team. Subordination arranging ideas in levels of significance: major and minor 4. Division separating the kinds of points you are making by using a consistent basis of division and distinction 4.
