Patient safety is essential Check lists and decision support tools are proven to reduce the incidence of clinical error. For example; The use of the WHO surgical checklist in 2008 reduced the rate of deaths and surgical complications by more than one third across all eight of it’s pilot hospitals. Encouraged for the use by Band 6 clinicians The step/outcome of the tool must be documented on the PRF if a decision is made to non convey a patient (see below) Falls outside scope of practice for Assistant Ambulance Practitioners! NEWS2 Score: 0 Pathfinder outcome: AMBER Plan: Patient referred to GP Dr Foster who will visit pt at 14:30 today. Patient advised to re-contact 999 if symptoms worsen / conditions change. Patient signified they understand all advice given.
