The mere fact that the building is marked indicates it is vacant, and operations should be conducted more slowly and with greater caution than at a building with a life hazard. A box that has one line drawn diagonally through it (fig. 19-25) indicates a building with some serious hazards, such as holes in the floor, and signals that all operations should be conducted from the exterior if possible. If the fire is small and interior operations are necessary, they should be conducted only after a careful examination for hazards. A building marked with the X as shown in figure 19-26, indicates.
