# Admission Nurse Job Description - Velvet Jobs Our company is looking to fill the role of admission nurse. We appreciate you taking the time to review the list of qualifications and to apply for the position. If you don't fill all of the qualifications, you may still be considered depending on your level of experience. ## Responsibilities for admission nurse - Clear any applicable Epic Work Queue's on a daily basis - Assist with denials as needed, and work as a team with the coder and Supervisor as needed with daily billing procedures - Perform room/unit orientation - Provide patient safety education to patient/family - Document admission history/assessment and related education in Meditech - Fax admission orders to Pharmacy - Print Nursing Admission History/Assessment and Home Medication Physician Orders and place in Medical Record - Provide hand off communication to the assigned nurse or charge nurse as appropriate - Assist with discharge teaching upon direction from the Administrative Supervisor - Discharge phone calls ## Qualifications for admission nurse - Minimum of one (1) year of experience experience in med/surg or critical care - Working knowledge of Meditech preferred - Must have FNP Certifications - Previous 2-year minimum experience in acute care setting, as RN at least, is preferred - Must have a team-based approach and work with professionalism - Maintains current knowledge of third party payer and government requirements related to job functions, including verification of valid physician orders, level of care, medical necessity guidelines, eligibility, benefits, pre-certification, notification, authorization, concurrent review pertinent documentation requirements through personal development and required departmental training
