Global Competencies and Personality Development Personality What is Personality? Personality is defined as the characteristic sets of behaviors, cognitions, and emotional patterns that evolve from biological and environmental factors. Personality is the dynamic organization within the individual of those psycho- physical systems that determine his/her unique adjustment to the environment Nature of Personality Types of Personality In Ayurveda, everyone has a unique personality that is called Prakruti. It’s a unique combination of natural energies that we are born with. Natural energies are called Doshas- Vata, Pitta, Kapha. Prakruti or basic body constitution is bit like a DNA , it will remain the same for our entire lives. However, as life goes on, many factors such as diet, lifestyle choices, seasons, stress, weather can result in a change in the balance of the Doshas of body and mind, this is known as Vikruti or imbalance. There are seven types of Prakruti or body type. Vata, Pitta, Kapha, Vata-Pitta, Pitta-Kapha, Vata-Kapha or Tri-dosha Types of Personality Developing Positive Personality Emotional intelligence Emotional intelligence (otherwise known as emotional quotient or EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
