### Stages of integration #### a) Free Trade Area This would be the first stage with a view to integration, this consists in that member countries agree to eliminate or reduce tariffs significantly, in this way to lift trade barriers, and promote trade in goods and services among the members of the area. What it seeks is that products and services can move more easily between countries. #### b) Customs Union In this second stage, a type of relationship of the member countries towards countries not belonging to the bloc is established; that is, member countries of a bloc establish the tariffs that products coming from other countries outside of it will pay, in this way they establish a unit, a common commercial border against imports.
