The research aimed to identify specific difficulties, explore their underlying causes, and analyze strategies students employed to address these challenges. Using a quantitative descriptive research design, the study revealed that anxiety, fear of judgment, and linguistic barriers significantly hindered students’ speaking abilities. These issues were influenced by concerns about making mistakes, fear of grammatical errors, and cultural factors. To cope, students adopted various strategies such as pre-speaking preparation, relaxation techniques, positive self-talk, and utilizing language-learning apps. The findings highlighted the need for creating supportive classroom environments, implementing flexible assessment methods, and providing constructive feedback. Additionally, the study underscored the importance of integrating relaxation techniques, fostering peer support through feedback groups, and leveraging technology for independent practice. The results emphasized that addressing these challenges collaboratively can enhance students’ confidence and oral communication skills, better equipping them to succeed as future educators. An action plan was proposed to implement these recommendations, focusing on fostering a culture of encouragement and continuous practice. ## Keywords: - pre-service elementary education - oral discourse - anxiety - speaking difficulties - coping strategies ## ACKNOWLEDGEMENT - We would like to express our profound gratitude to all the individuals and groups who made this research, “An Analysis of the Oral Discourse Challenges among BEED Students,” possible. - First and foremost, we extend our deepest appreciation to Dr. Julius Simon, our subject adviser, for his invaluable insights, guidance, and unwavering support throughout this study.
