By the end of the 15th century, Europeans had an avid interest in discovering countries located far away from the European continent. As a result, the Europeans were able to discover countries in the continents of Asia, America and Africa, and uncover information about the people and the resources available in those countries. This chapter focuses on the reasons that led Europeans to carry out explorations, their major explorations, the persons who led those explorations and the arrival of Europeans in the East.
