# Phloem - Transports food from the leaves to the rest of the plant - Living tissue that carries organic nutrients - Such as glucose sugar to all parts of the plant - This is called translocation - These narrow tubes have perforated sieve tubes plates - Found in roots, stems, leaves, fruits, flowers of a plant - 2 way flow - Water and food is transported - Cells have guard walls with perforations # Guard cell ( for stomata) - Stomata consists of 2 guard cells 1. Allow gas exchange 2. Prevent water loss - High water pressure, guard cells open - Low water pressure, guard cells close - Stomata allows carbon dioxide in and oxygen out # Palisade cell - Loads of chloroplasts for photosynthesis - Photosynthesis takes place - Palisade mesophyll are packed closely together to maximise light absorption for photosynthesis
