## Object ### Chemistry - Branch of science concerned with the study of characteristics, composition and transformation of matter. ### Matter - Any thing has mass and occupies space. ### State of Matter - Solid (s) - Liquid (l) - Gas (g) ### Properties - **Pro Perities** - Physical: Color, shape, solubility, and others. - Chemical: Include chemical reaction, - **Physical Properities ** - **Intensive Property** - Doesn't depend on the quantity of matter as density, surface tension, viscosity. - **Extensive Properties** - Depend on the quantity of matter as concentration. ### Density - Has per unit volume of matter. - P = m/V gm/ml, gm/L, kg/L ### Relative Density - **كثافة المادة على كثافة الماء وليس الكثافة التوعية النسبية ** - It has no unit. - **الكثافة عند بيوت الضغط والحرارة -> الكثافة المطلقه** ### Absdute Density - Mass per unit volume of matter when pressure and temperature are constant. ### Determination of Density of Liquid #### Procedures 1. Weight and empty beaser W1. 2. Add 5, 10, 15, 20 ml of H2O. 3. Weight the beaker + mls added of water W2. 4. Calculate the weight of mls of H2O : W = W2 - W1 5. Tabulate your results. | V (ml) | Wt (gm) | | -------- | -------- | | 5 | | | 10 | | | 15 | | | 20 | | 6. Plot your results V (ml) on X axis, (mg) on Y axis. 7. Calculate the slopes density.
