Different modes of transportation, especially highways, are of major importance to the society's economic development. 2. The creation and construction of these interconnected roads and highways increases a country's economic growth and output by reducing the time of journey of everyone and everything travelling from a different point to another. It contributes to the economic, social, industrial and cultural development of any society. ▪ these economic activities are the processes that the product needs and utilize to satisfy basic human needs and wants; the two important factors well known are; ▪ Production/supply and ▪ demand ▪ the reason why early civilizations have progressed because their population have always settled in places along rivers, where their mode of transportation of their goods was through small boats. Now populations have always settled along the river shores, road sides and near railway stations. the various social effects of transportation may be further elaborated with the ff: 1. sectionalism and transportation : present conditions of transportation have greatly improved and reduced sectionalism in different countries. 2. concentration of population into urban areas : since transportation has greatly improved the economic conditions of different countries, people from the rural areas has also migrated to urban cities. This concentration of people in one area needs to have an adequate mass transportation facilities to satisfy the needs of the people that needs to go from point to point everyday. 3. aspect of safety, law and order : transportation facilities are needed and are of great importance when it comes to rushing aids in times of emergencies. To maintain law and order, an efficient system of transportation is important , especially when it comes to defending a country's interest and security from external aggression from different countries. ▪ Infrastructure is an essential part of our lives because it ensures that our economy remains stable and that our environment is protected. ▪ Transportation, like roads, makes our infrastructure. It is a means of travel. They’re used to move items and services from one location to another. ▪ Transportation allows for the movement of goods, services, mail, and other materials from one place to another. ▪ Without transportation, we would be forced to carry everything with us or move everything by hand. We wouldn’t be able to ship things from one place to another. ▪ Transportation allows for people to move. Without transportation, it would be very difficult for people to travel to work, school, stores, or other places they need or want to go. ▪ Transportation also makes it easier for family members to visit one another and increases socialization within the community ▪ Traveling and hustling in the morning are routine for most people. An example is, research carried out in Japan showed that workers who commuted by train were more efficient than those who used cars. ▪ The experiment indicated that the workers walked to and from their points of departure and this helped them relax before they headed into work. These workers managed to be more productive at work. ▪ Traveling allows us to discover the world and all its beauty. It is a means of understanding different cultures and bringing people together. We can do things with less downtime. ▪ To have any sort of life in today’s society, transportation is necessary. ▪ When we have transportation, people are happier because they don’t have to spend hours of their day getting to places. ▪ They can get things done while still contributing to society in whatever way they choose. ▪ from the name itself, this is a mode of transportation on land. Roadway systems include a large variety of interconnected ways to transport different kind of goods and people. This includes small streets, to feeder roads, small roads, providing ways for all vehicles and pedestrians. ▪ these are steel tracks that are constructed on the ground, used by the trains. Railways have been used for a very long time to transport large amount of goods and people from and to different places in the world. Railways are more advantageous for places that are way too far, an example of this is the PNR, or the Philippine National Railways. Transportation using waterways is possible through ports, terminals along lakes and rivers.
