Geographic Lines

• There are 360 imaginary lines that extend from top to bottom of the Earth, from the North to the South, known as Longitude Lines or Meridians.
• The Prime Meridian is the 0° point of Longitude, dividing the Earth into Eastern and Western hemispheres.
• The 180° line of Longitude is the International Date Line.

Latitude Lines

• There are 180 imaginary circles that extend from side to side of the Earth, from East to West.
• The Equator is the 0° point of Latitude, dividing the Earth into Northern and Southern hemispheres.
• Latitude lines north of the Equator are referred to as North Latitude.
• Latitude lines south of the Equator are referred to as South Latitude.
• Lines of Latitude are parallel to the Equator and perpendicular to the lines of Longitude.
