41 Questions

pressure formula

force/area

average speed

distance/time

distance

average speed*time

time

distance /average time

When is something at a constant speed?

when the forces are balanced

what is force defined as?

it is defined as a push or pull

what effect does the mass of an object have on acceleration or deceleration of an object when an unbalanced force acts upon it?

It depends on whether the push or pull have the most valueand depending on that the object will accelerate/decelerate

What are the three parts of a lever?

The pivot(where the lever pivot turns), The load(the part that you are trying to move) and the effort or force you are using to move it.

What is a greenhouse effect?

The increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere traps more heat radiation from the earth

what type of material is a reinforced concrete

composite

What process led to the increase in oxygen lebels in the atmosphere?

Photosynthesis

What are the elements that form the basis of plastic materials?

Hydrogen and Carbon

Approximate compositojn of the earth's early atmosphere

Mostly Carbon Dioxide, Some Ammonia, Some methane, Little oxygen

composition of the earth's atmosphere

21% Oxygen, 78% Nitrogen and 1% othere gases

Correct states of matter of the Earth

Crust solid, mantle liquid, outer core liquid, inner core solid

Why is oil a non-renewable energy source?

Becuase it takes millions of years to be formed.

Where are volcanoes mainly found?

Along the earth's plate boundires.

What is a composite?

A combination of two materials with different chemical and physical properties.

What are the main components of plastics?

Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulpher, chlorine and polymers

What are the bulding blocks on polymers and what are they obtained from?

A monomer and they are obtained from crude oil

Why do plastics have different properties?

The way the molecules are arranged, temperate, made from different monomers, chain length and arrangement of polymer chains.

What effect does the forces of attraction between the polymers have?

Stronger the forces, the tougher the plastic and higher its melting point

Parts of the male sex cell

tails, sperm cell, head and nucleus

Parts of the female sex cell

cytoplasm, nucleus, ovar or ovar(more than one(2)),cell membrane

parts of the female reproductive system

ovidect or fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, uterus or womb, vagina

Parts of the male reproductive system

bladder, glands, uretha, penis, foreskin, scrotum, seminal vesicles

Overall of the female reproductive system

The egg cells are released from the ovaries and the the egg cells travel down the oviducts on their way to the uterus. When a woman is pregnant, the cervix helps hold the baby in place. The baby develops in the uterus.

Overall of the male reproductive system

Sperm cells are made in the tested. The tubes that the sperm cells travel down on their way out of the body are the urthra and spermduct. The head of the penis is protected by the foreskin. Glands add speical liquids to the sperm cells to make semen.

What is the process of menstruation?

It is when egg cells are released from the ovaries. Before an egg cell is released it must mature. The release of an egg cell is called ovulation. If the egg cell meets a sperm cell it will be fertilised. If it does not, it will pass out through the vagina.

What is menstruation?

Menstruation is the process of the uterus lining breaking apart. Another name for this is having a period. During this time the uterus lining and a little blood passes out of the vagina.

What is implantation?

`implantaion is when an egg cell imbeds itself into the lining of the womb or uterus.

What is fertilisation?

Fertilisation is when the sperm meets the egg cell.

What is the process of fertilisation

  1. An egg is released by the ovary in a process called ovulation. 2.The egg travels down the fallopian tube where it will meet the sperm, fertilisation will take place. 3. The fertilised cell while divide into a ball of cells. 4. This ball of cells will embed itself into the lining of the uterus, this is known as implantation.

periodic table

study

what is an atom?

An atom is the smallest piece of matter that can take part in a chemical reaction

What is an element?

An element is a pure substance made up of only one type of atom, Anything from the periodic table.

What is a compound?

A compound is a substance made up from more than one type of atomt, that are chemically bonded together.

What is a molecule?

A molecule is two or more atoms cheimically bonded together.

What is a chemical change?

Not easily reversable, involves the breaking of chemical bonds, gernerates new products.

What is a pysical change?

They are reversbale, Change of state (e.g. melting, freezing etc...), No change in the chemical bonds, No change in its chemical properties.

How do atoms make friends?

Atoms join together by electrostatic attractions called Bonds(chemical). When they do so they form molecules.

Physics and Forces

  • Pressure formula: not specified, but typically P = F/A, where P is pressure, F is force, and A is area
  • Average speed: total distance traveled divided by total time taken
  • Distance: a measure of how far an object has traveled
  • Time: a measure of duration
  • Constant speed: when an object covers equal distances in equal intervals of time
  • Force: a push or pull that causes an object to change its motion or shape
  • Force and mass: the more massive an object, the greater its resistance to changes in motion (inertia)
