Spring Fire Department Rehab Policy

Purpose: Rehab provides support to Spring Fire Department personnel at fire scenes, training, and public events.

Membership:
- Willingness to assist at fire scenes and other events.
- Access to transportation for responding to incidents.
- Good health, with pre-existing conditions discussed with leadership.
- Home or cell phone for communication.
- Notify Rehab leaders of times unavailable for response (for 7 or more days).

Responsibilities:
- Monitor member activity to ensure participation.
- Provide supplies such as Gatorade, water, a cooler, trash bags, waterproof boots, and Fire Department I.D.

Resignations:
- Upon resignation, return all department supplies and equipment.

Safety:
- Members can be instructed to move to safer areas.
- Only Department-issued boots or closed-toe shoes are permitted on scene.
- Wear Rehab shirt or safety vest when provided.
- Children are prohibited from fire scenes unless:
- They are 12-17 years old and accompanied by a parent.
- They avoid the fire scene area.
- They have case-by-case approval from the Deputy Chief of Support Services.
- Privately owned vehicles (POVs) are not allowed on incidents on freeways, unless given permission from the Incident Commander.
