    Rehab Procedures

    • The Spring Fire Department Executive Committee is responsible for reviewing and approving this procedure
    • Rehab is a service that provides support to fire department personnel
    • Rehab provides support at fire scenes, training, public relations events, and as requested
    • The purpose of Rehab is to provide support for fire department personnel
    • At any time, a Station or the Department is hosting or participating in an event where the Department Officers or Station Captains deem necessary, the help of all or part of the Rehab personnel, the Rehab member will assist as requested
    • Rehab provides support for fire department personnel at fire scenes
    • Rehab members must have transportation available to incidents and any other functions
    • Rehab members must be in good health
    • Rehab members must have a home or cell phone
    • Rehab members must notify their District Rehab Leader if they will be unavailable for response
    • Rehab members must contact Rehab Leaders to replenish supplies

    Members Responsibilities

    • Rehab membership does not have a minimum requirement for calls per quarter
    • The District Rehab Leader will monitor each member’s activity and report any concerns to the Deputy Chief of Support Services
    • The department provides Rehab members with a fire department pager and charger, key map, Gatorade, water, cooler, trash bags, water proof boots, and a fire department I.D. and car sticker
    • Rehab members are to keep clean at all times
    • The purchase of any replacement or new gear is to be submitted to the District Rehab Leader for approval from the Deputy Chief of Support Services
    • Low stock of disposable supplies can be purchased by any District Rehab Leader with approval from the Deputy Chief of Support Services
    • Squad 77 is the department designated Rehab vehicle which is staffed at the fire scene by fire department suppression personnel
    • Rehab files will be maintained by District Rehab Leaders, with the original maintained in the Administration Office

    Rehab Safety

    • Rehab members must check in with the Incident Commander upon arrival at a scene
    • Rehab members must determine or locate the Rehab Staging area
    • Rehab members must wear closed toes shoes on scene if not wearing department issued boots
    • Rehab members must wear department issued Rehab shirt/safety vest
    • Children are not allowed to be on scene at fire scenes

    • To receive credit for an incident, Rehab members must check in with command and text or email the Rehab Leader
    • Rehab 70 (RH70) must be paged to an incident. Rehab members are not to respond to any emergency scene without being dispatched
    • Rehab members must follow all Spring Fire Department Policies, Procedures, and Orders

    Rehab Chain of Command

    • Any issues by Rehab members will be reported to the Rehab Leader.
    • The Rehab Leader reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Support Services.
    • The Chief's signature is required on the document.

    Out of District Responses

    • Rehab members may respond to incidents outside of Spring Fire Department territory if dispatched.
    • Rehab members will not respond outside of Spring Fire Department territory unless dispatched.
