Post Box Rental and Management
- Articles addressed to a specific person or firm with a registered post box will be delivered/paid through the postman as long as the person/firm rents the post box.
Application and Eligibility
- Any person, firm, or body can apply to rent a post box by submitting a written application in the prescribed form to the Postmaster.
- The application must specify the nature of the business, which requires certification by two respectable gentlemen not connected to the applicant.
- Government and semi-Government institutions, as well as private parties known to the Postmaster, are exempt from this requirement.
Post Box Usage and Maintenance
- The Post Office reserves the right to withdraw a post box without notice or reason if the applicant provides incorrect information or misuses the post box.
- Renters must inform the Postmaster of any change in business address or office location within seven days.
- Renters are required to clear their post box regularly; failure to do so may result in notice being sent by registered post.
Delivery and Clearance
- Postal articles will be delivered to the renter or their messenger at the counter during window delivery hours upon presentation of the delivery ticket.
- If a renter is unable to clear their post box due to loss of the key or otherwise, articles will be delivered to them at the counter.
- Failure to clear the post box frequently may be considered misuse and result in the issue of registered notices or redirection of articles.
Post Box Cancellation and Refund
- When a post box is no longer required, the renter must surrender the lock and key to the Postmaster to receive a deposit refund.
- Refund will not be granted if the lock and key are not in working condition at the time of surrender.
Additional Information
- Renters are advised to address letters for delivery through the post box with their full postal address, including the post box number, post office of delivery, and postal index number (PIN).
- Renters should ensure they have a postal address in the delivery zone of the post office where they rent a post box.
