Bereavement Leave Policy

The Kansas City, MO Police Department grants leave with pay to all members for Bereavement Leave to grieve the death or plan for/participate in a funeral of a family member or friend.

Immediate Family Members

Up to five (5) days of paid Bereavement Leave are granted for:
- Spouse/Domestic Partner
- Child/Step Child
- Parent (including In-laws)
- Brother/Sister (including In-laws)

Extended Family Members

Up to three (3) days of paid Bereavement Leave are granted for:
- Grandparent
