• The Knowledge and Learning Division (KLD) within the Vice Presidency of Sectors and Knowledge (VPS) is responsible for identifying, building, applying, and disseminating knowledge within the IDB
• The KLD seeks to develop a knowledge management platform to facilitate knowledge access, systematization, and application within the IDB Group.
• The platform will use generative AI to connect analytical and operational knowledge

Knowledge Platform

• The IDB Group Knowledge Platform is an internal digital solution powered by generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI)
• Aims to facilitate easy access to crucial information, improving knowledge generation, systematization, and use within the organization.
• The platform includes a lessons-learned writing assistant (LessonsGPT) to facilitate lessons-learned capture and systematization
• The platform will be accessible to internal users initially
• Two minimum viable products (MVPs) are proposed:
  • Knowledge Platform MVP: This will enable project-guided search and knowledge retrieval for specific projects.
  • LessonsGPT MVP: This tool will capture, structure, and store lessons learned, allowing for future use.

Knowledge Assistant (Aurora)

• Uses a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) approach with large language models (LLMs) to provide accurate and relevant information
• Aims to enhance the use of Al by retrieving relevant data to answer questions with high accuracy and relevance

LessonsGPT

• A generative Al assistant to support the capture, structure, and classification of lessons learned
• Focuses on facilitating the structured creation of lessons learned
• Aims to organize, classify, and store lessons learned for future use
• Will integrate with various IDB systems via API

User Testing and Feedback

• Extensive user testing with project leaders, operations analysts, and project executing units has been conducted
• This testing has generated feedback for adjustments in question framing and tool usability.

Platform Development Methodology

• Our team operates aligned with the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) Group's New Operating Model (NOM)
• The team will use a product-oriented perspective, integrating business, design, and technology, to strategically consider the impact of each contribution on user experience.
• A modular and scalable architecture is designed for continuous platform evolution.
• Utilizes medium and high-fidelity prototypes for user feedback during design and development.

Project Objectives

• Develop and deploy two parallel MVPs (Knowledge Platform and LessonsGPT)
• These MVPs will use large language models (LLMs) to enhance knowledge management
• The platform is to be scalable and secure, handling multiple concurrent users while protecting user interactions.

• Complete platform development, encompassing core functionalities
• Successful platform testing and validation
• Project manager approval of all project documentation and progress reports
