Device Usage
- Firefighters may rotate through stations equipped with the unit.
- Prioritize usage for on-duty personnel involved in recent fire events, but encourage frequent use for all members.
- Only Spring Fire Department members are permitted to use the unit.
Procedure
- Use the unit soon after firefighting activity to remove absorbed toxins.
- Shower before using the unit.
- Bring loose-fitting clothing, shoes, and toiletries.
- Do not use the unit if you have cardiac or medical issues, are pregnant, or breastfeeding without medical clearance.
- Exit immediately if you feel uncomfortable, dizzy, have a headache, or feel fatigued.
- Read and understand warning labels and the user manual before use.
- Sign in to document usage.
- Maintain the unit at a maximum setting of 100-104° Fahrenheit, with the user experiencing 80-99° Fahrenheit on average.
- Set a timer for approximately 25 minutes, allowing for a 10-minute warm-up period and a minimum of 12-15 minutes of personal decontamination time.
- Enter the unit while the temperature is still rising to benefit from infrared rays.
