Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS)

• The AWBS is a computer program used to maintain weight and balance records for both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
• The system utilizes a desktop computer to perform calculations and fill in necessary weight and balance charts and forms.
• AWBS stores aircraft weight and balance data on magnetic media, which can be updated via the computer to reduce mathematical errors and increase efficiency.

System Features and Benefits

• The system is designed to support all U.S. military services and government agencies.
• AWBS has been approved by ASC/ENFS as the standard automated weight and balance computer program for use by U.S. Government agencies and their contractors.
• The system is available to foreign government and contractors, provided they comply with the procedures outlined at the end of the section.

System Requirements and Installation

• The minimum system requirements for running AWBS include a Pentium processor, Microsoft Windows 95, 32MB RAM, a CD-ROM drive, and a monitor with a minimum resolution of 800 x 600.
• The system requires peripherals such as a Microsoft-compatible mouse and a Windows-compatible printer (laser printer highly recommended).
• The Setup program installs AWBS, the Help system, and other required components from the distribution media to the hard disk.

Version Compatibility and Upgrades

• Knowing the version of AWBS being used is important, as there may be instances where users receive a disk for an aircraft utilizing an earlier version.
• The latest version of AWBS can import files from earlier versions (6.0 and 7.0a), but once imported, they cannot be exported in the earlier version format.
• Version 7.0a databases can be converted into the latest version using the conversion utility.

• Documentation and instructions for the program can be found in the program's online help section, the Weight and Balance AWBS and AWBS Form F folders, and at the website https://awbs.hill.af.mil.
• The new Weight and Balance Software Website is available for use by DOD and authorized contractors, providing technical support, training resources, FAQs, and software downloads.

Distribution and Availability

• The AWBS can be obtained by military organizations through the TODO (Technical Order Distribution Office) using Computer Program Identification Number (CPIN) 88Z–AWBS/DD365/PCSSE–F001–00A.
• DOD contractors may request the program by sending a letter to the address below, including a statement of terms and conditions for Air Force software.
• Foreign governments and foreign contractors may request the program by sending a letter through the country's embassy to the address below, including a statement of terms and conditions for Air Force software.
