Artistic Criticism

• Artistic criticism is an acquired theoretical sense, involving the eye of sight and the eye of imagination. It allows for the appreciation of artistic beauty and enjoyment.

• Artistic and aesthetic experience: This knowledge is gained by the critic's experience in art, direct interaction with artists, and experiencing their works.

• Interpretations and readings: Ideas gained are open to multiple interpretations and readings, and objectivity, comprehensiveness, and self-enrichment are crucial for the critic.

• Empathy and emotional engagement: Criticism requires deep insight and conscious contemplation. The critic must understand artists' ideas and feelings, interpreting presented thoughts. The critic needs to evoke experiences and issues that inspire the artist.

• Artistic criticism between theory and application: The critic can trace humanity's creative output from early humans to now, explaining that art is not just a creative process, but is also a reflection of the beliefs, customs and ideas of the society in which they were created.

• Modern vs. ancient art: Analysis is required from ancient to modern art.

• Specialized knowledge: Works of art should be analyzed by specialists in arts, artists, or academics with art expertise, not journalists, lawyers, psychologists, or other unrelated fields. Specialized knowledge is essential for critical analysis and understanding of artistic styles and movements.
