Plays a critical role in the health care team by providing quality healthcare and pharmaceutical care to the general public. Is an expert in medicines and uses his clinical expertise in addition to formulation and quality control knowledge to provide safe and effective medicines for the public. A change in role from a classical compounder and dispensing chemist to a patient-centered care with counselling, drug information provision and monitoring for efficacy and ADR Practicing Pharmacy in Ghana Currently under HPRA Act, Act 857, 2013 Part IV Holds a degree in Pharmacy or equivalence Evidence of completion of internship in the country Passing professional qualifying examinations Pay prescribed fees Register (Provisional registration, new entrants Permanent registration(Validity & Renewal) PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF GHANA Upon registration as a Pharmacist, you need to be part of a recognised professional body of Pharmacists-PSGH Membership has Full Members Associate Members Fellows Honorary Members Corporate Members Objectives of PSGH Promote corporate spirit among members Ensure observance of high ethical standards aimed at upholding the dignity of the profession. To promote co-operation and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure standards are in line with best practices in the world. GHOSPA(Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association) Open to All Government Pharmacists ie those in institutions such as FDA, Pharmacy Council, MOH institutions(eg Malaria Control Programme, Family Planning etc) and Hospital Pharmacists 2. CPPA (Community Practice Pharmacists Association) Open to all Pharmacists in Community Pharmacy Practice 3. Industrial Practice Pharmacists Group Open to Pharmacists in Pharmaceutical industries Practice Groups Cont’d 4. Academic, Social and Research. Pharmacists Association (ASRPA) Open to all Pharmacists in academic institutions 5.
