Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] 1 Why do I need to get saved? In the beginning of time our father, the first man Adam was created in the image of God. • Genesis 1:26-27-26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. When God created man, he created him in three parts, body, spirit and soul. • Genesis 2:7-7And the LORD God formed man of the 1dust of the ground, and 2breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a 3living soul. • Matthew 10:28-28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 1. Man’s body was made from the dust of the ground. • Genesis 3:17, 19-17And unto Adam God said, 19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. • Job 34:15-15All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. 2. Man’s life was made from the spirit of God which was breathed into him by God. • Job 33:4-4The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. • Job 32:8-8But there is a spirit in man: • James 2:26-26For as the body without the spirit is dead, 3. Man’s soul was also breathed into him. The soul consists of three parts also, the 1mind, 2will and 3emotions. The mind is the source of man’s intellect or thinking ability. • Psalms 13:2-2How long shall I take counsel in my soul, • Proverbs 23:7-7For as he thinketh in his heart, The soul also contains the will and its sole purpose is to agree or disagree with the mind depending on what the mind wants to believe. • Job 7:15-15So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. • Job 6:7-7The things that my soul refused to touch The third and most dominant part that the soul contains is the emotions. • Job 30:25-25Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor? • Psalms 35:9-9And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. Why do I need to get saved? Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] • 2 John 12:27-27Now is my soul troubled; God gave Adam a decree and Adam disobeyed that law. • Genesis 2:16-17-16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: • Genesis 3:6-6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Once Adam broke the law, all men had to be born in a condition of sin. • Romans 5:12-12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: • Genesis 5:19-19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, • Genesis 5:18-18Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; Because of what Adam did, all of mankind was cursed to be born separated from God. • Colossians 1:21-21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, • Romans 5:10-10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. All men are born in this condition which is known as a sinner. In this condition God will not communicate with you. • Isaiah 59:2-2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. • Psalms 66:18-18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: Iniquity is sin and this is the condition of our spirit and soul from birth. • Psalms 51:5-5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. As long as you are in this condition, you are sentenced to go to hell in the event that you were to physically die. • Matthew 10:28-28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. • Proverbs 23:14-14Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. • Luke 16:22-24-22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. It is noticeably clear that everyone that does not possess the spirit of God’s son inside of them will go to hell when they physically die. God does not want hell to be man’s final resting place, but hell is the only place that an unsaved, unrepented soul is allowed to go. Once you get saved you now possess the spirit of the living God inside of your body. Why do I need to get saved? Apostle Sedrick & Pastor Angela Davis “The City of Life Ministries” Email: [email protected] 3 • 1Corinthians 3:16-16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? • 1Corinthians 6:19-19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? It does not matter if your emotions cannot detect that Gods’ spirit is inside of you, you just need to know and understand that IT is. It does not matter if your natural mind cannot comprehend that God is living inside of you, HE is. God is now living, walking and breathing inside of you and this is the truth that your mind, will, and emotions will try to keep you from believing. • 2Corinthians 6:16-16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. You are not going to feel like you have God living inside of you because the word of God is not activated by our feelings, or emotions. God’s word is activated by faith and knowledge of the truth. • Romans 4:3-3For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. • Romans 10:17-17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. You must learn about your new identity through reading and studying the word of God so that your faith can increase in the things of God. Faith is confidence. Confidence is built based on facts. Facts are confirmed based on truthful study of information. • 2Timothy 2:15-15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. • 2Timothy 3:16-16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: You will still get mad, sad, and thoughts from your old identity will still come to you as if nothing ever happened inside of you but this is a trick to deceive you into thinking that God is not in you. Don’t fall for it. Even after you commit the same mistakes and live according to the same habits that you don’t want. Know that Gods’ spirit is inside of you and that you have to take your desire to change directly to God and tell him to teach you how to walk after his laws and statutes. As you begin to read and familiarize yourself with the stories in the word God will open your understanding as to what those stories are really about and in this process you will learn what and who God really is and how he wants to manifest through you. Know that you are a new creation! • 2 Corinthians 5:17- 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Why do I need to get saved?
