Anthropology Etymological Definition “anthropos” (Greek) = “man” “logos” (Greek) = “study” Essential Definition Branch of knowledge which deals with the scientific study of man, his works, body, behavior and values within a specific time and space. Anthropolo gy The study of the origin of people, past and present, with a focus on understanding the human condition both culturally and biologically. It is “the science of humanity,” which studies human beings in aspects ranging from the biology and evolutionary history of Homo sapiens to the features of society and culture that decisively distinguish humans from other animal species. Branches of Anthropology Branches of Anthropology Biological The Anthropology study of human biological variation and evolution. These remains can be any objects that people created, modified, or used.
