# World English 3: Unit 1 ## Beach Restaurant **Instructions:** Read. Then write True or False for each statement. Correct the false statements. * Are you tired of the same old restaurants? Are you ready to try something new? If you're in the northeastern United States, you can go to The Cove. That's the name of a restaurant in Belfast, Maine. The reason most people go is for the clam bake, which is a traditional way of cooking a very special meal. * A clam bake begins outside. They cook it on the beach! Restaurant workers use wood to make a fire in the sand. The fire heats up several large rocks. Then, when the rocks are very hot, the workers put wet seaweed on top of the rocks. On top of the seaweed, they put three kinds of seafood, potatoes, onions, and corn. Then they cover everything. It cooks for about an hour. If you arrive early enough, you can watch the whole process. Then you go inside the restaurant to eat. * At the Cove, the meal arrives at your table family style. That means they put everything on a big plate in the middle of the table. Then you take some of the food and put it on your own plate. Everyone gets a bowl of melted butter, too. You can put the seafood and vegetables into the butter, or you can put the butter all over the food on your plate. * If you want to try a real New England clam bake, this is the right place. The Cove is only open from April 15 until November 1, so make plans to go there on your next vacation. **True/False Questions:** 1. The most popular meal at The Cove is cooked outside. **True** 2.
