Course selection is the process where students determine the courses they are required to take in a given academic period to activate their enrollment status. Course selection is necessary to participate in classes and exams for that semester. 22.11.2024 Through which system should students complete course selection? Students can complete course selection through the Student Information System. https://obs.beykent.edu.tr/oibs/ogrenci/login.aspx 22.11.2024 How can students log into the Student Information System? Students can log in with their student numbers and passwords via https://obs.beykent.edu.tr/oibs/ogrenci/login.aspx. 22.11.2024 In which section of the Student Information System can course selection be completed? Course selection can be completed under the "General Operations - Course and Semester Operations - Course Registration" section of the Student Information System 22.11.2024 How many courses should new (1st-year) students take in a semester, and how many ECTS credits can they select? 1st-year students can select courses totaling 30 ECTS credits for the relevant semester. 22.11.2024 What is ECTS? ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) is a credit system used widely across Europe and accepted by Turkish universities participating in the Bologna Process, which facilitates credit transfer and recognition between institutions. 22.11.2024 Can students take courses from upper semesters? Students who have completed all courses in their current semester and have a GPA of 3.25 or higher may take up to an additional 6 ECTS credits from upper semesters, on top of the 30 ECTS. 22.11.2024 Can students who have completed preparatory education and are starting 1st-year courses directly select courses for the semester and begin classes? Yes, students who have completed preparatory education and are starting 1st-year courses can select their courses according to the dates specified in the academic calendar and begin their studies 22.11.2024 What should students do if the course they wish to take is full They may choose from other sections with available seats. If all sections are full, additional seats may be arranged through the Office of Student Affairs, either in person or via email: [email protected] 22.11.2024 How many ECTS credits can students select in a semester, and how many courses can they take? Students within the standard period of study can select up to 30 ECTS credits per semester from courses they have not previously taken. Additionally, they can take up to 6 extra ECTS credits per semester from courses they previously failed (grades: DZ, FF, FD, K) or wish to retake to improve their grades. Students with a weighted GPA of 3.25 or higher may take an additional 6 ECTS credits per semester in courses they have not previously taken, beyond the 30 ECTS limit. 22.11.2024 Will students face any issues if they do not select elective courses during course selection? Students are required to take the courses specified in the elective category. The selected courses within these categories are included in the total ECTS credits required for graduation—240 ECTS for undergraduate students and 120 ECTS for associate degree students. 22.11.2024 If a student has a course they failed, are they required to retake it first, or can they directly select courses from the current semester? Students are expected to have completed all courses before graduation. They may choose whether to prioritize retaking failed courses or select courses from their current semester. 22.11.2024 During course selection, can a student choose a different course instead of retaking a failed course? Students are obligated to retake and pass any course they failed. Students with a weighted GPA of 3.25 or higher may take an additional 6 ECTS credits per semester from courses they have not previously taken, in addition to the 30 ECTS credits per semester. 22.11.2024 Double Major Program These opportunities enable successful undergraduate students to receive a second diploma in another degree programme or a graduate certificate of minor in another subject area they are interested in on the condition that they meet certain criteria. Associate Degree students may also benefit from these opportunities to receive a second Associate Degree diploma in another degree programme on the condition that they meet certain criteria. This program allows students who meet the success requirements and other conditions to take courses simultaneously from two degree programs within the same higher education institution, thereby earning two separate diplomas. 22.11.2024 What are the requirements to apply for a double major? According to Article 8 of the “Istanbul Beykent University Double Major and Minor Directive”: a) Students can apply for a double major at the beginning of the 3rd to 5th semester of their undergraduate program and at the beginning of the 2nd to 3rd semester of their associate degree program. b) To apply for a double major, students must have successfully completed all courses required in their primary major up to the application period, have a minimum GPA of 3.00, and be within the top 20% of their class in their primary major program. c) Students with a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 in their primary major but not within the top 20% of their class may also apply if they have a score not lower than the base score for the double major program for that academic year. Priority is given to those within the top 20% with the highest GPA 22.11.2024 Is there a tuition fee for a double major? According to Article 17 of the “Istanbul Beykent University Student Scholarship, Discount, and Support Directive,” double major study is free for the normal study period + 1 year based on the year of entry into the primary major. Students who do not complete their studies within this period will continue on a paid basis. 22.11.2024 What is the duration and termination condition for scholarships during a double major program? Double major study is free for the normal study period + 1 year based on the year of entry into the primary major, as per Article 17 of the “Istanbul Beykent University Student Scholarship, Discount, and Support Directive.” If students do not complete their studies within this period, scholarships will be terminated, and they will continue on a paid basis. 22.11.2024 If a preparatory program is required in the double major, is a fee required? Yes, a fee is required. 22.11.2024 Can a double major registration be suspended? Double major registration cannot be suspended independently of the primary major. 22.11.2024 Can students request exemptions for courses in the double major? According to Article 9 of the “Istanbul Beykent University Double Major and Minor Directive”: Double major students are required to take courses that have the same code in both the primary and secondary major programs from the primary major. These courses, once completed and passed in the primary major, will automatically be transferred to the transcript of the secondary major at the end of the semester in which they are completed, along with their grades. No additional application is required. 22.11.2024 What is a Minor Program? A minor program allows students who successfully maintain their primary undergraduate program to simultaneously complete a certificate program in a second field of interest. This certificate program consists of core courses from the minor field (excluding internship, graduation project, and program design/research project courses in the 7th semester) and enables the student to earn a minor certificate. 22.11.2024 What are the requirements to apply for a minor program? According to Article 12 of the “Istanbul Beykent University Double Major and Minor Directive”: a) Students can apply for a minor program at the beginning of the 3rd to 6th semester of their primary undergraduate program. b) To apply, students must have successfully completed all credit courses required in their primary undergraduate program up to the application semester and must have a minimum weighted GPA of 2.75 at the time of application. 22.11.2024 Is there a tuition fee for a minor program? The minor program is free of charge. 22.11.2024 What is the duration and termination condition for scholarships during a minor program According to Article 14 of the “Istanbul Beykent University Double Major and Minor Directive,” students who qualify for graduation from their primary program but have not completed their minor program are granted up to two additional semesters with approval from the relevant administrative board. During this period, the minor program remains free. If students do not complete the minor program by the end of this extension, their enrollment in the minor program will be terminated. 22.11.2024 If a preparatory program is required in the minor, is a fee required? Departments that admit students through special talent exams can only double major among themselves. Students enrolled in associate degree programs do not have the right to minor. 22.11.2024 Internship In which semester should students complete their internship? Students can complete their internships at the end of the designated semesters, which are within 4 semesters for associate degree programs and 8 semesters for undergraduate programs, during periods that do not conflict with their classes. 22.11.2024 How can students find out where they can do their internships? Students can consult the Department/Program Head to learn about suitable companies for internships 22.11.2024 After obtaining approval from the department head for the internship place, which documents should the student submit? Students should prepare the required documents using the forms available at https://www.beykent.edu.tr/staj/formlar-dilekceler and submit them to the Student Affairs Office according to the instructions on the forms. 22.11.2024 By when should students submit their internship documents to the university? Internship forms must be submitted to the Student Affairs Office at least 15 days before the internship starts. 22.11.2024 Does the university provide internship insurance for compulsory internships? In compliance with Law No. 5510, the university provides compulsory internship insurance for students classified as interns. 22.11.2024 How can students access the internship logbook? They can check the "Employment/Unemployment Statement" on the e-Government portal. 22.11.2024 By when should students submit their internship logbooks after completing their internship? Students should contact their Department/Program Heads for information regarding the final submission deadlines for the internship logbook. 22.11.2024 22.11.2024 In our university, students who have achieved success in sports disciplines (national athletes within the last 3 years) will receive a discount of up to 100% for one year, in accordance with the Istanbul Beykent University Student Scholarship, Discount, and Support Regulation 22.11.2024 International DİPLOMA Scholarship Students graduating from high schools in Turkey and enrolled in the university's fee-based undergraduate programs who are IB (International Baccalaureate) students will receive tuition fee discounts based on their diploma scores as follows: 50% discount for scores of 40 and above, 35% discount for scores between 35 and 39, 30% discount for scores between 30 and 34. Additionally, students graduating from Turkish high schools and enrolled in the university's fee-based undergraduate programs with ABITUR, MATURA, or MATURITA diplomas will receive a 25% discount on tuition fees based on the following criteria: ABITUR diploma score of 2.5 or higher, MATURA diploma score of 2.0 or higher, MATURITA diploma score of 80 or higher 22.11.2024 22.11.2024 22.11.2024 Student mobility Our university participates in Erasmus Programme with an increasing number of student and faculty member exchange every year. This exchange movement which started with 4 universities continues with new cooperation agreements signed by Beykent University and new universities every year. 22.11.2024 Our students have the opportunity to spend 1 semester or 1 year of their education in distinguished universities of European Union countries within Erasmus Programme as long as the quotas allow. Associate Degree, Undergraduate Degree, Master’s Degree or PhD students can benefit from Erasmus Programme. The only condition for applying for the programme is to have 2.20 GPA for Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree students and 2.50 GPA for Master’s Degree and PhD students. Students whose transcript is not yet available during the application process. Students who are registered at a bachelor’s degree programme through vertical transfer must have a GPA of at least 2.20/4.00. Students who have a graduation score of at least 75/100 (for first-year students). The assessment process includes two stages: 50% of Erasmus English Language Proficiency Exam Score and 50% of Transcript Score. Those who gain right to benefit from the programme within the quota of our university receive a grant ranging from € 450 to € 750 monthly depending on the country to cover their education and traineeship mobility. The coordination of the units established on different campuses in accordance with the academic infrastructure is carried out by our Department. Our libraries, which have been serving since the establishment of our university, follow a growth policy by taking into account the academic structure and research areas of the university, as well as supporting social and cultural activities for students with library resources. We provide services in accordance with the “Library Working Principles Directive,” which establishes coordination between Beykent libraries, cooperation with libraries of other institutions and organisations within and outside the university, and the definition of library services and conditions of use. An “Institutional Archive” was established under our Department for the organisation and digitalisation of the archive materials of the units affiliated to our university. Operations are carried out in accordance with the “Archive Directive”.
