Labor Laws https://youtu.be/Zi_mZdqG8mk Minimum Wage Law Overtime Pay Overtime pay, also called "time and a half pay", is one and a half times an employee's normal hourly wage. Therefore, Minnesota's overtime minimum wage is $15.00 per hour, one and a half times the regular Minnesota minimum wage of $10.00 per hour. If you earn more than the Minnesota minimum wage rate, you are entitled to at least 1.5 times your regular hourly wage for all overtime worked. Example $10 x 1.5 = $15 Overtime Pay Minnesota sets the state overtime cut-off as all hours worked over 48 in a single week, which is higher then the national weekly overtime limit of 40. A variety of occupations are completely exempted from Minnesota's overtime pay laws, including taxi drivers, many seasonal employees, most salespeople, mechanics, certain agricultural employees, sugar beet hand laborers, babysitters, and employees installing farm equipment. White-collar workers and workers who have arranged alternative overtime compensation through collective bargaining are also exempted from Minnesota's overtime laws. Answer these questions... For Minors Under 16: Up to 8 hours of work per day, 40 hours per week. For Minors Ages 16 and 17: Minnesota has no restrictions on maximum working hours for minors aged 16 and 17. Nightwork Restrictions for Minors Nightwork restrictions set limits on how late a minor can legally work. For Minors Under 16: Work is prohibited during these hours: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m For Minors Ages 16 and 17: Work is prohibited during these hours: 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. before school day (11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. with written parental permission). Age and hours of work A minor under the age of 16 years may not work: *During the school year, federal law restricts hours worked to no later than 7 p.m., no more than three hours a day and not more than 18 hours in a week. Before 7 a.m. or after 9 p.m.* with the exception of a newspaper carrier; For more than 40 hours a week or more than eight hours per 24-hour period*, except in agriculture; On school days during school hours, without an employment certificate issued by the school district.
