TAKING CLIENT’S BODY MEASUREMENT Taking body measurement is an important step in sewing clothes for you and for others. Much of the success in garment construction depends on accurate measurement. Without the right measurement, the results you get may not be accurate. Standards for Taking Body Measurement When measuring, wear undergarments or bodysuit. Using measuring tape that does not stretch. Tie your natural waistline with a cord around it. Push the tape very close, but not too strongly. Ask the subject in stocking feet to stand in a comfortable, upright position. When taking girth or circumferential measurements, insert two fingers to serve as allowances. List all measurements correctly on a notebook. Tape measure – is a flexible tape with metric and English measurement.
