"Among all God's creatures, only humanity receives the image of God, and that quality separates us from all else. We possess what no other animal does; we are linked in our essence to God." Being created in the image of God means that man has the same attributes as He possesses. God has given man the ability to think, choose and like. Several aspects of our existence show us to be more like God in comparison to the rest of creation Moral Aspect We have an inner sense of right and wrong that animals do not have. This is also known as conscience Several aspects of our existence show us to be more like God in comparison to the rest of creation Spiritual Aspect We have the capacity to connect to the spiritual realm. We have a spirit that can relate to God and that can live forever Several aspects of our existence show us to be more like God in comparison to the rest of creation Mental Aspect We have the ability to reason out and think logically. Our ability to use abstract language, our awareness of the distant future, our human creativity, and our complex human emotions. Several aspects of our existence show us to be more like God in comparison to the rest of creation Relational Aspect We experience deep interpersonal harmony in human marriage, in a human family, and in a community that is much greater than the relationships experienced by animals Several aspects of our existence show us to be more like God in comparison to the rest of creation Physical Aspect We have the ability to see, hear, and speak as God does. Although God has no physical body because "God is spirit" (John 4:24), our bodies were created to reflect some of God's nature. Man is a creature with an innate knowledge of good and evil. His conscience is an indication of such natural status. HUMAN CAPABILITY Knowing Faculty Because of the external senses and because of the mind so man understands, judges, and argues. Two Human Abilities External senses- these are sight, hearing, smell, and taste. They cause the person to have a direct relationship with reality. Internal senses- this is consciousness, memory, imagination, and instinct. Awareness sensory awareness, summative, and is able to comprehend Memory ability to recognize and remember the past event or experience Imagination ability to create a mental image and expand it. Instinct ability to perceive an experience and respond without going through reason. Example: You felt like someone was following you while walking home, because of your instinct you run fast. Man has the mind to know the essence of something. We also have the heart to feel the emotion and instinct to decide and carry out our choice. This is why we are unique and different from other living creatures. The difference between intellect and will can be seen according to its purpose. Man possesses a wisdom that no other creature in the world has. His wisdom is the product of a well-formed mind and instinct based on truth because the truth is discerned with the help of reason and proper conduct.
