Your best way to properly identify the works is by focusing on unique elements such as instruments used, tempo, language of the text, etc… Essay Questions – Prepare 2 questions as thoroughly as possible 1. What new musical elements did Beethoven include in his Fifth Symphony that set the stage for Romanticism and the artist’s subjective point of view? 2. Discuss the transformation of opera through the romantic era, including major composers, important trends, and other developments. 3. Discuss, using specific examples, how Romantic era composers explored the “extremes” of musical composition.
