**[SENSE ORGANS]** **Sense organs are parts of the body that help us to observe the environment around us. There are 5 sense organs in the human body.** 1. **The eye -- the sense of sight.** 2. **The ear -- the sense of hearing.** 3. **The nose -- the sense of smell.** 4. **The tongue -- the sense of taste.** 5. **The skin -- the sense of touch.** **[The Eye]** **We see things in our environment with our eyes.** **We can see the different colours, shapes and sizes of things with our eyes.** **[Activity]: Draw any 3 objects that you can see around you.** **[Fact]: If someone is not able to see, they are known as blind. They learn a special way to read books by using Braille.** **[The Ear]** ![](media/image2.jpeg) **The ear is the sense of hearing.** **Our ears help us to hear the different kinds of sounds in our environment.** **We can hear and identify things without even seeing them.** **For example, we hear the sound of a bell, and even without seeing the bell, we know that it is a bell.** **Sounds can be made by both living and non-living things.** **[Fact]: If someone is not able to hear, they are known as deaf. The deaf can communicate in a special way called Sign Language.** **Evaluation:** The teacher asks the following questions from the pupils: i. What are sense organs? ii. Mention the 5 sense organs in the human body. iii. State one thing that the eye is used for. iv.
